About Big Cedar Wilderness Trail

Big Cedar Wilderness is a beloved natural gem in southern Dallas, offering rugged trails, diverse habitats, and breathtaking views of the city skyline. Now, with community leadership and City bond funding, Trust for Public Land is working with neighbors and partners to shape a new vision for the park. Through inclusive engagement and thoughtful design, the future Big Cedar Wilderness will feature expanded hiking and mountain biking trails, spaces for gathering and reflection, and protections for native plants and wildlife. The plan will also improve access for emergency services, enhance parking, and include new amenities for visitors who aren’t bikers. Rooted in equity and sustainability, this project is guided by community voices every step of the way. Together, we’re creating a resilient, nature-forward space where all Dallas residents can connect, explore, and belong.
